Developers for applications download for the iPhone have long been calling for a decent iPhone for download SDK (software development kit). The SDK would help them to produce the kind of applications that the iPhone’s users expect.
Finally Apple released the gem in beta and what a response it got. Over 100,000 downloads of the iPhone SDK took place in the first four days of its announcement, while rabid fans watched the iPhone SDK launch download video on Apple’s website over one million times with down loadable iPhone application.
Such was the interest that Apple’s servers struggled to satisfy the demand on bandwidth and some viewers were starting to see the dreaded 404 errors (incidentally, there is a torrent of the SDK in the ether – you’ll may be better off with this rather waiting for Apple to get more powerful servers).
When will the iPhone SDK be formally released? Who knows. It will definitely be interesting to see all the big programming shops racing to release the first batch of games that you can download on your iPhone.
